Gold in the Soil Awards

WOFAGRIC seeks to pay tribute to the efforts and contribution by women, young female ‘agripreneurs’ , female students  and women with disabilities for their roles toward ensuring food security, poverty alleviation, employment creation and ultimately helping the economy.

The program was launched in 2018 with the main event coming off in March,2019

WHAT IS WOFAGRIC?

Women in Food and Agric Leadership Training Forum & Expo (WOFAGRIC) is Agrihouse’s expert opinion sharing, mentoring, training, coaching, networking and learning platform for women in agriculture; i.e. smallholder, commercial, aggregator, buyer, beginner, processor, marketer, ICT, etc.
WOFAGRIC forms part of efforts to empower women, promote their works, expand their horizon, recognize and award their works and further mentor and inspire other women to venture into Agribusiness.

WHAT IS ITS AIM?

The event also serves as a leadership and training platform that recognizes, encourages and empowers smallholder women farmers and women agripreneurs through motivational, training and mentoring sessions.
It aims at teaching women, through competence-base approaches, demonstrations, soft skills, that they can employ in agribusiness to create jobs, enhance their livelihoods and improve their social, economic, human and environmental agribusiness drive and agenda .
It equally gives women a voice, whiles strengthening their agribusiness enterprises , through the provision of market intelligence, price information, training and skills needed to improve their business performance.

WHAT IS GOLD IN THE SOIL AWARDS

The Gold in the soil awards is a women-focused award ceremony that promotes, strengthens and Motivates a paradigm shift in projecting women achievers in agribusiness, through the recognition and celebration of women pioneers and trailblazers, who push the boundaries along the agribusiness value chain, especially at the community, Districts and regional levels, within and across the country.
It brings to the lime-light women working, thriving, excelling and making waves in the field of agriculture.

PROGRAM FOCUS OUTLINE FOR THE 2-DAY EVENT

Participation cuts across smallholder women , rural women, women achievers, ‘agriprenuers’ and youth in agriculture.
It runs for 2days, alongside WOFAGRIC.

HOW DO WE UNEARTH OUR GOLD IN THE SOIL?

The spotlight is focused on the nominated women’s farms and businesses, and tells their story through a documentary series that dwells on passion, drive, excitement, challenges, short and long term vision, in a way designed to inspire and mentor viewers.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE?

The event is designed to have a rotational venue from Region to Region annually, thereby unearthing heroic women in each Region and ultimately supporting to build a strong and organic data of women who are passionately working to improve nutrition and make our lives better by putting food on the table.

WHAT IT SEEKS TO ACHIEVE

It seeks to recognize and reward pioneers and trailblazers; the women who push the boundaries along the Agric value chain.

Panel Discussions, Competence based Training and Soft-skills sessions, Fire in my heart, Grace in my Soul, Mentor Pair up (Aspire to be), Gathering of the Royals, Exhibitions, Documentary and Award Ceremony.
