Agrihouse Foundation Awarded Franchise for Brazil’s Leading International Cassava Fair – (FIMAN)

Podium Alimentos, the leading organization, that manages Brazil’s largest International Cassava Fair (FIMAN), has announced a five-year partnership with Ghana’s Agrihouse Foundation, as its official franchise holders, for the promotion, facilitation and marketing of the annual International Fair in Brazil.

In a statement issued, the Chief Executive Officer of Podium Alimentos and creator for the International cassava Fair (FIMAN), Mr. Mauricio Gehlen, expressed his excitement for the partnership with Agrihouse Foundation. He emphasized that, the partnership with Agrihouse Foundation as the official franchise holder for the International Cassava Fair (FIMAN) in Ghana, for the next five years will undoubtedly elevate and significantly enhance the program’s growth and increase participation in Ghana and Africa.

He further explained that, Agrihouse Foundation will work with his office, to strengthen and enhance the prominence and impact of the International Cassava Fair (FIMAN) initiative in Ghana, with a primary focus on contributing to improving the cassava value chain sector.  Adding that, Cassava contributes significantly to the nutrition and livelihood of up to 500 million people in the world, beside serving as a primary staple food for millions of people, cassava is also an important raw material used for pharmaceutical and industrial purposes.

In his statement, Mr. Gehlen, added that Agrihouse Foundation has a commendable track record of consistently demonstrating unwavering dedication to sustainable agriculture and a proven history of promoting the agriculture industry in Ghana and beyond.

Commodifying cassava presents Africa and the global community with an opportunity to reduce dependence on imports, enhance food security, and support economic growth.

Despite its immense potential, cassava has often been to a high level, been overlooked as a crop suitable for commercial production and commodification. However, as global food demand continues to rise, the potential for cassava to contribute to agricultural growth in Africa and around the world is becoming increasingly apparent.

Mr. Mauricio Gehlen, emphasized that, the partnership will also facilitate the dissemination of global cassava research findings, innovations, and best practices to the Ghanaian cassava industry, fostering growth and sustainability.

This collaboration he said, signifies a great milestone in our efforts to foster greater international cooperation and knowledge exchange in the cassava industry.

Monthly Agribusiness Skills and Jobs for the Youth Roadshow Bounces Back for its Third Edition

About One Hundred and Seventy (170) Ghanaian youth are expected to benefit from the 3rd edition of the Monthly Agribusiness Skills and Jobs for the Youth roadshow dubbed ‘’it is possible’’, an initiative by the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency, Hon. Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings in partnership with Agrihouse Foundation. The event   will be held at the Accra High School located at Ridge in Accra on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This edition promises to once again ignite the aspirations of young individuals and equip them with the knowledge and training   to excel in snail farming.

Beneficiaries of the 3rd edition of the “It is Possible” Monthly Agribusiness Skills and Jobs for the Youth Roadshow will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts who will share invaluable insights and practical advice on Snail Farming    Management and gain hands-on experience in snail farming techniques and best practices.

As a testament to the roadshow’s commitment to supporting the journey of these aspiring agripreneurs, each participant will receive a complimentary starter pack which   will serve as a catalyst, enabling them to kickstart their own snail farming ventures with confidence.

This initiative has not only equipped young individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in agribusiness but has also provided them with a reliable source of livelihood. It stands as a beacon of hope for unemployed youth, offering them free monthly agribusiness training and opportunities to gain meaningful employment, thus contributing significantly to the reduction of youth unemployment in the country.

 Hon.Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized the importance of investing in the capacity of young Ghanaians interested in agriculture to ensure the growth and sustainability of the country’s agricultural sector. She highlighted some challenges facing the youth, including the rising unemployment rate, and noted that proactive and forward-thinking initiatives are needed to ensure the capacity building of the youth.

The Member of Parliament believes that the youth have the capacity to ensure the growth and sustainability of the country. She advised the beneficiaries of the “It Is Possible” Roadshow to take the training seriously, as it is an avenue to empower and create employment for themselves and others, transforming their lives and making them self-sufficient.

The Nebraska-Ghana Trade and Investment Program and Husker Harvest Days event, which saw the participation of twenty-two (22) Ghana Government officials and Private Businesses, has ended successfully in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The event, held from 11th to 14th September 2023, UNDER THE THEME – FACILITATING OPPORTUNITIES, has been described by participants as one of the most well-organized Trade and Investment Programs, which is poised to make significant impact, in establishing and building relevant and much needed partnerships.

Senator Ken Schilz, the Lead and Co-founder of Nebraska GhaNeb LLC, expressed his satisfaction, with the quality of the Ghanaian delegates, their understanding of the sectors, in which they operate, and most importantly, their desire to establish long term and profitable business partnerships.

Both GhaNeb LLC and Agrihouse Foundation have positioned ourselves to support to facilitate the opportunities and relationships, that have been established.

We are confident, that creating this platform will help businesses expand their operations and contribute to economic development of both Nebraska and Ghana. Senator Schilz added.

Speaking to some participants, Cecil Sunkwa-Mills of T & C Farms, said, what stood out for the me, was the Business Presentations, where they learnt from the various Nebraska State legal practitioners, policy makers and farmers on focused issues, that addressed, the Legalities of Doing Business in Nebraska, Regenerative Agriculture, Digital Marketing for Retail Sales and Data Mining.

Dr. Solomon Gyan Ansah, the Director of Crop Services at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, expressed his deep admiration for the extensive array of machinery and equipment utilized by farmers in Nebraska. He noted that these advanced tools have significantly contributed to enhancing crop productivity in the region.
The Chairman of the Ghana Federation of Livestock Inter-Professionals (GHAFLIP), Alhaji Akakade Moro, also shared similar sentiments about the event.  Describing it as not only insightful but also an eye-opener to the agricultural sector in Ghana.

The delegates, who also met with leaders of Kreikemeier Farms, Lincoln Premium Poultry, RWH Energy, EZ Politix, Sandhills Global and Certified Piedmontese, expressed their satisfaction with the detailed business discussions, they had.

‘’We have together identified areas of Trade collaborations. There are meaningful technologies and enhanced equipment, that we will need. Talks and negotiations have already begun, and we are hopeful to seal some deals soon’’. Mashud Mohammed, Ghana’s 2021 National Best Farmer added.

A pivotal highlight of the program for the Ghanaian delegates, was the visit the Husker Harvest Days event grounds, the renowned and illustrious showcase, acclaimed as the largest irrigated agriculture exposition in the United States.

All the delegates spoke about the positive interactions they had with Exhibitors and vendors, their appreciation of cutting-edge technologies. They are positive of future collaborations.
The delegates also had the opportunity to meet with Southeast Community College and Nebraska State University, who are looking at having Ghanaian students, enrol in their institutions in the immediate future.

On Wednesday, September 6th, 2023,  Agrihouse Foundation made a significant stride in Ghana’s agricultural sector as it launched the 13th Annual Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Exhibition and Conference. The event took place at the AGRIHOUSE AGRI-VILLAGE TRAINING AND DEMONSTRATION CENTRE, located in Bamvim, Tamale, within the Northern region of Ghana.

In collaboration with the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC), the 13th Annual Pre-harvest Agribusiness Exhibition and Conference is scheduled for October 24th to 26th, 2023, at the AGRIHOUSE AGRI-VILLAGE TRAINING AND DEMONSTRATION CENTRE in Bamvim, Tamale. The event will encompass conference sessions, presentations, exhibitions, and a marketplace for fostering business-to-business interactions.

This year’s 13th annual Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Exhibition and Conference revolves around the theme, ‘Connecting the Unconnected,’ the farmer ,the input dealer and the processor ”aims at bridging the gaps between farmers, processors, and input dealers. This theme reflects the event’s unwavering commitment to fostering collaboration and synergy across the entire agricultural value chain, ultimately bolstering Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Speaking at the launch, the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, expressed his gratitude to the Agrihouse Foundation for creating a platform that annually unites stakeholders from various sectors of agriculture. He emphasized the Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Exhibitions and Conference as a consistent avenue for the Northern Region to showcase its immense agricultural potential, glean wisdom from industry experts, and form invaluable connections.

One of the highlights of the event was the commitment from the Northern Regional Coordinating Council to collaborate with the Agrihouse Foundation in transforming the Agrihouse Agri-village Training and Demonstration Center in Bamvim into a model agricultural site. This collaboration is set to inspire and empower local farmers and agribusinesses in the region, fostering growth and innovation in the agricultural sector.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of empowering women in agriculture and called for comprehensive training and mentorship programs to enhance their participation, leadership, and economic independence within the agricultural value chain. He recognized the significant role of engaging and empowering the youth, who represent the future of agriculture, and expressed his aspirations for the Pre-Harvest event to evolve into a premier agricultural gathering that benefits a growing number of farmers, women, and youth.

The Head of Growth and Partnership for Agrihouse Foundation, Michael Opuni-Frimpong shared insights into what attendees can anticipate at the 13th Annual Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Exhibition and Conference, set to occur from October 24th to 26th, 2023. The Annual Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibitions event, for the past 12 years, have provided and created market linkages and built the capacity of over 150,000 value chain actors and stakeholders.

Agrihouse Foundation is delighted to announce the fifth edition of the Livestock, Poultry, and Fisheries Tradeshow 2023, (LiPF), scheduled to kick off in Accra on Friday, September 29th, 2023. Under the theme, “Get a Side Gig: Join Us on the Farm,” this year’s tradeshow is poised to revolutionize the agricultural landscape.

Over the past four years, the Livestock, Poultry, and Fisheries Tradeshow (LiPF) have facilitated extensive networking and dialogue opportunities among livestock farmers in the country. It has also offered training and capacity-building sessions in various areas, including snail production, poultry farming, piggery, mushroom production, cattle and small ruminants rearing, yogurt making, fish farming, beekeeping, and milk production, among others.

The exhibition aspect of the event has brought together over 1,400 participants and more than 150 exhibitors.

“This year, the exhibitions are going to be a very major and central part of the 1-day event. We recognize the need to continuously create market opportunities for agribusinesses and partners working along the value chain. The upcoming 5th edition of the Livestock, Poultry, and Fisheries Training will also   seek to scale up the enthusiasm built over the years. It aims to motivate, empower, and build the capacity of stakeholders to help them sustain the gains and agri-focused projects they initiated during the pandemic.

“Although LiPF focuses on Livestock production, its actors or stakeholders, the exhibition is also open to all other actors along the agriculture value chain. It is an intentional effort to promote other sectors of Agriculture as we boost the Livestock production of Ghana. Fundamentally, our goal is to boost Agriculture activities in the country and beyond,” Alberta said.

Agriwoman Marketplace Returns Energetically after a short break, expecting to draw about 50 Women in Farming, Marketing and related Agribusiness Value chain Activities for its 13th Edition

About Fifty (50)and more Women farmers, Processors, Aggregators, agric input dealers, packagers, and other value chain actors, are expected to participate in the 13th edition of the monthly ‘Agri-Woman Marketplace, to be held at the Forecourt of Agrihouse Foundation office, Dzorwulu .The event is scheduled for the last Friday of  September, specifically on the 29th of this month in  2023,commencing at 9am and closes at 5pm.

The Agri-woman marketplace, an initiative of Agrihouse Foundation ,over the past year, has been instrumental in aiding women in Agribusiness to regain,expand and market their agricultural produce, products and services. This initiative offers exhibitions and marketing opportunities,enabling these  women to sell and promote their products and services, whiles opening up their access to markets.

In a release, the Founder and Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation expressed her delight at the  return of the Agriwoman Marketplace.

“it is truly heartwarming  to see the revival of this initiative,”she remarked. “in the past months, we welcomed a significant number of women in Agribusiness who came together to showcase their products and services, for this edition we eagerly anticipate even  more women participating”.

“We are truly humbled, that we are able to advocate and contribute to an agenda which has  strengthened, scaled and promoted Agri-women products and services, as well as  provided an environment for networking”, she said.

The  upcoming September edition of the one-day exhibition and mentoring session is open for registrations  from numerous  agribusiness participants. This diverse group includes women involved in vegetable production, yam and tuber farming as well as grains and cereals.  Others are also into processing ground paste, shea butter, Moringa, neem, coconut, castor oils, whiles the rest are into food, IT, finance, communications and marketing services.

The monthly Agri-woman marketplace, which is fully sponsored by Agrihouse Foundation provides  tables and chairs for women to display their products and services.

Other side activities during the full day event includes Training and Mentoring sessions, wrapped with music, games and other recreational activities, intended to create a relaxing and friendly environment for the women.
It is our hope that by this platform, we  will be able to continue and  contribute steadily to creating and expanding market accessibility, whiles opening up opportunities for women.
